Find Blogs To Post Comments On By Analysing Your Competition

July 11th, 2007 · No Comments

You should all know by now the importance of commenting on other people’s blogs. If not, have a look at my post titled “Comments Please” Why Blog Commenting Is Important For Bloggers. The big question I had for some time when I first started blogging is how in the world do I find these blogs to comment on?

Well, there are several methods including of course just typing your primary keywords into the search engines & then sifting through the results. But a method that I have used that has been both a big time saver and very successful is to analyze your competitor’s blogs. Successful blogs have hundreds if not thousands of backlinks coming into their site. The key is to find a few of the higher ranked authority sites in your niche subject, and then use one of several tools on the market, that analyze the blog to see where the backlinks are coming from. What you’ll find amongst those backlinks is a very good number of blogs that are related to your niche that you can then visit and post comments to.

A tool that I use and that does this very well is called Traffic Travis. One of the functions of this neat keyword tool is the ability to analyze backlinks coming into any site. Here is a screen-shot from this tool: Traffic Travis Analyse Backlinks

You simply type in the domain name of the competitive blog that you want to analyze, and then select which search engines you want to query as well as number of results, and then start. What you’ll get is a list of the top x number (depending on the number of results you chose) of backlinks to your competitors site. Then simply double click on each domain name & you’ll get directed to the site. If its a blog that allows comments, you should leave a comment on that blog. Of course, its also best to hunt down the higher ranked blogs to comment on if your time is limited. Easy as pie and a sure fire way of increasing your page rank & traffic to your site.

There are other tools out there that will do a similar function to Traffic Travis. I’ll do a separate post about these keyword tools at a later time.

Happy blogging peoples!
